Recipe Courtesy of Paula DeenServings: 6-8 servings
Prep Time: 10 min
Cook Time: 45 min
Difficulty: Easy
2 (10-ounce) packages frozen broccoli, chopped
6 cup shredded chicken, cooked
2 (10 3/4 -ounce) cans condensed cream of mushroom soup
1 cup mayonnaise
1 cup sour cream
1 cup grated sharp cheddar cheese
1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
1 teaspoon curry powder
salt and pepper, to taste
1/2 cup dry white wine
1/2 cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese
1/2 cup soft bread crumbs
2 tablespoon butter, melted
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Remove the outer wrappers from the boxes of broccoli. Open one end of each box. Microwave on full power for 2 minutes, until thawed. Drain the broccoli and put into a 11X7 casserole dish that has been prepared with a non stick cooking spray. Top with shredded chicken.
In a medium bowl, combine the soup, mayonnaise, sour cream, cheddar cheese, lemon juice, curry powder, salt and pepper to taste, and wine. Whisk together to make a sauce. Pour the sauce over the broccoli and chicken. Mix well with a spatula.
Pat down evenly and smooth with a spatula. In a small mixing bowl, stir together the Parmesan cheese, bread crumbs and butter and sprinkle over the top.
Bake for about 30-45 minutes.
Cook’s Note: Try topping with cheddar or gruyere cheese.

What can I use instead of white wine?

Thanks for putting all of your deliciousness on line for us to consult. And being a two gallon donor to the Red Cross, I am sad to miss out on the opportunity of receiving an autographed apron from you. Please know that I appreciate the wonderful event you've gotten together to help our much depleted blood supply. I'm sure it will bring in many donors. Keep up the good work!

I love this recipe and so does my family especially my daughter. I used chicken broth instead of wine. I also used 1 can of cream of mushroom and 1 can of cream of chicken.

Great recipe! But I changed it up a bit. Omited the curry, though I love curry. Omited the wine, and used water instead. Used cracker crumbs instead of bread crumbs. Used 2 cans of cream of chicken not cream of mushrooms. My teens loved it! I will make this again. Plan to make in individual ramikins for intertaining.

This was an easy recipe to fix. My husband really loved the flavors. It was a huge hit and will be requested again. I'm sure the 2nd time I fix it will be even better. I also skipped the wine and did not substitute. But I will certainly try the chicken broth/soup.

Made this recipe two nights ago. My husband really liked it. I followed the directions to a "T" as far as the ingredients are concerned with the exception of the wine (used chicken broth instead). Because we only have two in our family, the recipe was 1/2-ed. The one thing I wasn't in favor of was the curry powder. The curry powder seemed a bit over powering(to me), but my husband didn't think so. Next time I will probably only use half. I also used fresh broccoli, which I steamed before putting it in the casserole. We like our broccoli tender and not so crisp.

I love this recipe. I have been making it for over 20 years, I got this exact recipe from my mother.. It is awesome. I have changed a few things as I now use steamed fresh broccoli and cream of chicken soup and skip the wine. But the original recipe is still delicious. I serve this with brown rice.

I love this recipe. The only thing I do differently is I cook white rice with a little butter and tiny pieces of spaghetti noodle. I put the cooked rice at the bottom of the casserole and I put the chicken divan on top. I also add a layer of cheese on top before the bread crumbs. It's so good. I wouldn't recommend omitting the wine, it adds a lot of flavor. I use Chardonnay or whatever I have around that is white. I also just use the juice from a whole lemon.

I was very nervous to try this recipe based on some of the other reviews, but decided to give it a try nonetheless. We couldn't have been more pleased - it was absolutely delicious! I did make some adjustments, however: I halved the amount of broccoli and chicken so there would be more "sauce." I used two cans of condensed cream of chicken soup instead of cream of mushroom. I used 1/2 cup of chicken broth instead of dry white wine. I used Panko bread crumbs and also added triple cheddar cheese to the top with about 5 minutes left to bake. The verdict? YUMMY! And, it makes so much that we have leftovers for lunch today. I can't wait to dig in again. This is going to be my go-to recipe to take to new mommies and potlucks. Thanks Paula!
