Fried Pork Chops Fried Pork Chops

Servings: 8 servings
Cook Time: 20 min
Difficulty: Easy

Ingredients Add to grocery list

4 cups vegetable oil
8 (8-ounce) bone-in pork chops, about 1-inch thick
1 1/4 teaspoons salt
1 1/4 teaspoons freshly ground black pepper
3 teaspoon garlic powder
1 pinch cayenne pepper
1 pinch celery seeds
2/3 cup buttermilk
1 1/3 cups all-purpose flour

Directions

Heat oil in a deep skillet to 350 degrees F.

Arrange the pork chops in a large shallow dish. Season each pork chop, on both sides, with salt, black pepper, garlic powder, cayenne pepper and celery seeds. Pour the buttermilk over the chops and turn to coat.

Place flour into a large shallow dish. Dip each pork chop into the flour mixture and coat well, shaking off the excess.

Using tongs, gently lower the chops into the deep skillet in batches if necessary. Fry for 8 to 10 minutes or until golden brown, turning once. Transfer chops to a paper towel-lined pate to drain. Serve hot.

To anonymous, your oil probably wasn't hot enough if the breading fell off. It came out great for me. Thanks Paula.

I have always had a passion for cooking. I use to stand by the kitchen entryway and watch my momma cook. When she would cook, no one was allowed in the kitchen. Your fried pork recipe brought back some memories. They also opened up some tastebuds with my girlfriend and her children(they never had fried pork chops before). Ever since i used your recipe we have had pork chops every week. They are a hit Thank you, Alfred Hills

Thank you sooooo much for your Taco Soup recipe! I saw you prepare it on TV then looked it up in one of your cookbooks. It is absolutely our favorite soup year round. I try to keep several containers in the freezer. Marilyn

My Grandson Trent hopes that when the rest of my hair turns white (which isn't far off), I will "be a good cooker like the white haired lady on our TV.". Paula we all loved this recipe. Trent sends his best.

It's been years since I fried pork shops, the last time being not successful. However, these were so good and I think the buttermilk made them even better! Excellent!
