Taffy Pulling

By Paula Deen

My grandson, Jack, and I had such a blast pulling taffy in the kitchen together! The candy was so beautiful, and I think that Jack and I have found a new Christmas tradition. From now on, instead of baking cookie after cookie, he and I will pull taffy. We loved stuffing little mason jars full with handfuls of taffy to give away as gifts this year. I helped Jack tie on some pretty ribbon, and we were set! Of course, we both couldn’t resist sneaking a few bites for ourselves. Try my new recipe for homemade taffy for your holiday!

Hi Paula, I watch your show usually 3 times a day M-F, and then once on Saturday..and I love it! You have such great recipes and you and your family make me feel as if I am an old family friend you have invited into your kitchen. I saw a show that you did with your friend and I believe her nickname was Bubbles; on that show she mentioned to you that she added some corn starch to the whipped cream she has made for something to stabilize it, but neither of you said how much corn starch was needed to do that. Could you please let me know; I have an idea for a cake....I want to bake a lemon pound cake from a mix (make it a layer cake) and in between the layers make your lemon curd recipe and frost it (sort of) with homemade whipped cream. I would also like an address where I could mail you some of my families recipes that I think you would really enjoy. Keep the recipes coming, and say hello to your family for me. God Bless You and Yours, Robin Henry

I was never one for cooking, infact I still am not to fond of being in the kitchen except for Christmas.  Your magazines and cookbooks (and your sons) are beginning to change my mind a little.  Thanks for making things so easy.
